In the name of God, Amen. I, John Beaty, of Donegal Township, Butler County and
State of Pennsylvania, being in good health of body, and of sound mind and memory
(praise be God for the same), and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I
have strength and capacity to do, do make and publish this, my last will and
testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time
heretofore made.
And I will that all my just debts by me owing at my death, together
with my funeral expenses and all charges touching the proving of, or otherwise,
concerning this my will, shall in the first place out of my personal estate and
effects to be fully paid and satisfied.
And from, and after payment thereof and subject thereunto, then my will is that
all the residue of my estate both real and personal of what kind and nature, I
give and bequeath the same unto my beloved wife, Nancy Beaty, during her natural
lifetime, and at her decease my will is that all my estate, both real and personal,
be sold to the highest and best bidders, and the proceeds thereof be divided
among my then surviving children, share and share alike, excepting my daughter,
Elizabeth Thorn, to whom I give and bequeath fifty dollars, to be expended wisely
and judiciously for clothes for said Elizabeth Thorn.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourteenth day of
April in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty One. (1841 )
