   "FORMER AREA COUPLE CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY
  On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Walter D. F. 
  Barber, 120 High St, Slippery Rock, formerly of the Vandergrift area, will be 
  honored at a reception in Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church 
  of Slippery Rock on Sunday, June 14,  from 2-5 p.m.       Mrs. and Mrs. Walter 
  Franklin Barber, Jr., and their children Nathan, Jennifer and Amy will be the 
  hosts.  Friends from this area are invited to stop in and it is requested that 
  gifts be omitted.
       Mrs. and Mrs. Barber were married in Vandergrift, June 10, 1931 by the 
  Rev. Clyde Barnes, pastor of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church.    Mr. 
  Barber is Professor Emeritus of Slippery Rock State College and was for many 
  years the principal of the Washington Township High School.  Mrs. Barber is 
  the former LaWave Beatty, a graduate of Vandergrift High School, class of 
  1929.  Outside the home, her principal interest is in music.
