of many. He was of a retiring
disposition and valued more a
quiet home life than taking part
in public affairs, although he was
frequently elected to school and
minor positions. But he has
continuously held the office of
postmaster of Sylvania since 1857,
for forty-Ave years. He was a
member of the Mission Presbyterian
church of Sylvania, established by
Rev. D. E. Bierce, formerly of
Racine, and held to the vows taken
until his demise. Since the
discontinuation of society, he has
attended the Methodist church at
Syivania. The funeral was held
from the residence at Syivania at
8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, the
services being conducted by Rev.
