Dorsey County

Dorsey County was formed by an Act of Legislature on April 17, 1873, from parts of Bradley, Jefferson, and Lincoln Counties and was named in honor of Stephen W. Dorsey, a Republican senator, who entered Congress in that year. On March 5, 1885, Dorsey County was renamed by an act of the General Assembly in honor of Grover Cleveland, who had just been elected President of the United States.
