E.L. Dean as Guardian of E.D. Dean states that she received for his ward in 1863 the following sum of Confederate Money viz: $2874.57
And that immediately thereafter, fearing the currency she invested the whole amount in lands situated on Gum Ridge, amounting to four hundred acres, and hold the deed for the same as guardian, she states that nothing further has come into her hands at any time all of which is respectfully submitted.

L.C. Denton as Guard. of Mary Edna Denton begs leave to make the following settlement in connection with his first settlement with his said Ward to wit:
The said Mary Edna Denton is the daughter of Gen. Denton decd. and the minor of this Guardian. In 1884 Martha E. Denton the Sister of the Guardian and the Aunt of said Mary Edna died without having married leaving John M. Denton, G.W. Denton, the said Mary E. Denton and this Guard. as her heirs at law leaving the personal property to the value of $235.00 and an interest of one sixth in 240 acres of land. That John M. & G.W. & this Guard give their interest in the personal property and the land to the said Mary E. Denton

And the property went into the hands of this Guardian at that date and he also took charge of said minor and has had the care of her ever since that time. That during the time on account of the death of this guardian’s wife he had to make arrangements for her custody for two years and he sent her to her Aunts house in the State of Texas where she remained for that period of time at his expense. And he files the following account with said minor: He charges himself with amount of personal property say one horse, three h..d of cotton bed & clothing & c. $235.00 He also charges himself to rent on 13 acres of and 7 years @ $4.00 pr acre $23.00 pr year $364.00 Total $599.00 And he claims the following: By board, clothing , medicine & attention for 5 years or 61 months @ $6.00 pr month $360.00 By amt furnished for board, clothing and travel to & from Texas 2 years. $150.00 by amt Taxes on land for 7 years $16.33 By repairs on land for years $14.00 Total $540.00 This Guardian makes no charges for commissions nor does he charge himself with interest on rents this leaves a balance in his hands of $ [blank] due his Ward. And perhaps an increase acreage in cleared land upon partition when made.
