I am looking for information on Stephen Burkes, Silas Burkes, John W Burks. This family sometimes spelled with an s and sometimes with an es.All three were in Neshoba County in 1860.I blieve they came from Alabama through Kemper County. Family reports say that father died and is buried somewhere in Kemper County close to the Alabama line. All three eventually came to Attala county. Stephen and John are buried at Tabernacle Methodist Church and Silas is buried at Providence. All three hoave descendents in Attala, winston and Neshoba County. Stephen married Mary Adcock daughter of Sam And Huldy Adcock. Silas married Martha Woodall and John was married 3 times. His last wife was Annie Brezeale. Any info would be useful.

Looking for information on the GROOVER surname. John Sims Groover married a Vannie Newell, born January 10, 1845. She was born in a place called Pleasant Ridge, Alabama. It may no longer exist. Does anyone know where Pleasant Ridge is located or used to be located? Both of them died in Mexia, Texas. Don't know when they moved there. His 2nd wife, Dora Newell, born March 13, 1858 was Vannie's sister. Any informatin appreciated, especially the county location of Pleasant Ridge.
