All information on William Redwine born: May 6 1791 Do know that William was there some where in Alabama after the war of 1812 filing for what we think were pension papers, with the help of James Bundren William (Wiley) was a life long Methodist. He was married to Avis Mondy on 12-25-1812 in Tazewell, Tennessee. We know in 1805 Wiley moved to Sequatchie and was the 3rd. settler to penetrate the cornbrakes of that fertile valley. He moved from Sequatchie to Powells Valley, when he volunteered in the war of 1812 and followed the Jackson in his memorable campaign against the British. After the war, he moved to Lexington,KY. So we think between 1814 and 1823 he came to Alabama and in the later months of 1823 moved to Cumberland Mountain and settled near where he died on March 8th. 1888 in Grassy Cove, Tenn. He had a son John and a daughter Sarah, other siblings we are unsure of. John married a Rebecca Hedgecoft (born in 1828) they had a son Christopher Columbus Redwine (born Oct. 1855) Christopher married Narcissy Williams (born April 1859) Their son was Sterling Dexter (Deck) REDWINE Sterling (born July 1925) Sterling married Katy Lou Steelmon (born April 3rd. 1895) Their son William Reed Redwine (born Sept. 12th. 1914) was my father. I'm looking for information about Alfred OAKS, a "wealthy plantation owner" who took in my orphaned ggggrandfather, Wilson Ulysses GODWIN. Wilson was b. 1820 in NC, so Alfred OAKS must have had his plantation sometime between 1820 and 1862 (when Wilson left to join the Union Army.) I'm also trying to find out about Wilson's wife, Artimissa Corbett/Corbitt. She was either a 1/2 or full Cherokee from Alabama, b. 1824. I believe this name is her "Christian" name. I'm trying to discover if she had a Cherokee name, and her parents' info. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
